mafMOVE (MAF and MAFmovement©) is the moniker of successful contemporary mixed media fine artist/graphic designer and published poet Mark A. Forton, based in the United States of America. Mark Forton’s work has been described as “visually immersive” and as a “collage of abstract forms and modern POP interlocked in a digitized dreamscape." Mark Forton’s work has been seen in publications and art galleries around the world.
Mark A. Forton’s work became more widely known during the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election, specifically for his "Ten to the 4th" series for the Barack Obama Campaign. "My 'Ten to the 4th' series started 10 days before the end of the 2008 Election. The 10 works I created centered on the Barack Obama campaign and his message of HOPE. With help from Aaron Perry-Zucker and the Creative Action Network, the 'Ten to the 4th' images received a massive amount of positive press." Mark Forton has recently exhibited work in San Francisco California, Oakland California, New York City, Detroit Michigan, Washington D.C., and Madrid Spain. In early 2015 a poster of the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" Mark Forton created for the sports website Bleacher Report was featured in a CNN news story. Proceeds for the "Miracle on Ice" poster (along with a poster titled "Ali Renounces Violence" also created by Mark) support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Mark Forton's work was also recently featured in three best-selling books See America: A Celebration of Our National Parks & Treasured SitesWhat Really Makes America Great, and Posters for a Green New Deal: 50 Removable Posters to Inspire Change. In late spring 2020, Mark Forton with Merrell Footwear released a highly successful limited-edition hiking boot and socks. The pair sold out immediately.
Much like the 1960s Pop Art movement, the focus of Mark Forton’s work is generally aimed at popular aspects of mass culture. In recent months Mark Forton’s fine art has begun to move towards the abstract and has been met with a massive amount of positive attention.
